Peraturan ini mencabut: 1. Keputusan Presiden Nomor 22 Tahun 1988 tentang Pengesahan an Agreement among the Governments of Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, and the Kingdom of Thailand for the Promotion and Protection of Investments. 2. Keputusan Presiden Nomor 28 Tahun 1999 tentang Pengesahan Framework Agreement on the ASEAN Investment Area. 3. Keputusan Presiden Nomor 167 Tahun 1999 tentang Pengesahan Protocol to Amend the Agreement among the Governments of Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, and the Kingdom of Thailand for the Promotion and Protection of Investments. 4. Keputusan Presiden Nomor 78 Tahun 2002 tentang Pengesahan Protocol to Amend the Framework Agreement on the ASEAN Investment Area.

Peraturan Presiden ini bertujuan untuk mengesahkan ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement (Persetujuan Penanaman Modal Menyeluruh ASEAN) yang telah ditandatangani di Cha-am, Thailand, pada tanggal 26 Februari 2009. Pengesahan ini dilakukan untuk memperkuat kerjasama investasi di antara negara-negara anggota ASEAN. Peraturan ini menetapkan bahwa naskah asli dalam Bahasa Inggris dari Persetujuan tersebut akan menjadi acuan jika terjadi perbedaan penafsiran dengan terjemahan Bahasa Indonesia. Dengan berlakunya Peraturan Presiden ini, beberapa Keputusan Presiden sebelumnya yang terkait dengan perjanjian investasi ASEAN dicabut dan dinyatakan tidak berlaku.
