Keputusan Presiden ini bertujuan untuk mengesahkan Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction, yang telah ditandatangani oleh Pemerintah Republik Indonesia di Moscow, Washington, dan London pada bulan Juni 1972. Latar belakang pengesahan ini adalah kebijakan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia dalam perlucutan senjata, khususnya untuk membebaskan dunia dari senjata pemusnah massal seperti senjata nuklir, radiologi, kimia, dan biologi. Keputusan ini diambil sesuai dengan amanat Presiden kepada Ketua Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Gotong Royong mengenai pembuatan perjanjian dengan negara lain. Keputusan Presiden ini menetapkan bahwa konvensi tersebut disahkan dan mulai berlaku sejak tanggal ditetapkan, serta diundangkan dalam Lembaran Negara Republik Indonesia.

RATIFICATION OF THE CONVENTION ON THE PROHIBITION OF THE DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCTION AND STOCKPILING OF BACTERIOLOGICAL (BIOLOGICAL) AND TOXIN WEAPONS AND ON THEIR DESTRUCTION

PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA,

Considering:

that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia has signed the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction in Moscow and Washington on June 20, 1972, and in London on June 21, 1972;
that the policy of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in the field of Disarmament is primarily aimed at freeing the world from weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear, radiological, chemical, and biological weapons;
that in connection with this, and in accordance with the Mandate of
