Peraturan ini mengubah: 1. Keputusan Presiden tanggal 15 Pebruari 1952 No.41 tahun 1952.

Keputusan Presiden No. 179 Tahun 1953 ini bertujuan untuk mengubah Keputusan Presiden sebelumnya, yaitu Keputusan No. 41 Tahun 1952. Perubahan ini dilakukan dengan menambahkan frasa 'atau (Wakil) Presiden' setelah kata-kata 'diangkat mendjadi Menteri' dalam dictum Keputusan tersebut. Keputusan ini berlaku surut sejak tanggal 15 Februari 1952, yang berarti perubahan tersebut dianggap telah berlaku sejak tanggal tersebut. Keputusan ini ditetapkan di Jakarta pada tanggal 20 Oktober 1953 oleh Presiden Sukarno dan Perdana Menteri Ali Sastroamidjojo.

1. Keputusan ini berlaku surut sampai tanggal 15 Pebruari 1952.
