BY THE GRACE OF GOD ALMIGHTY

PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA,
Considering:
  1. that in line with the objectives of Indonesian national development to achieve a just and prosperous society based on economic democracy, an economic system based on the values of justice, togetherness, equality, and benefit in accordance with Sharia principles is developed;
  2. that the Indonesian people's need for Sharia banking services is increasing;
  3. that Sharia banking has specific characteristics compared to conventional banking;
  4. that the regulations regarding Sharia banking in Law Number 7 of 1992 concerning Banking as amended by Law Number 10 of 1998 are not specific, so it needs to be specifically regulated in a separate law;
  5. that based on the considerations as referred to in letters a, b, c, and d,
